I’m All Set for a Great Year of Reading

2017 will go down on record as an abysmal year for reading for me. I’m not sure what happened, but I only read 38 books, and my goal was 64. I usually don’t mind if I don’t hit my goal, but reading less than 50 books is very out of the norm for me. But it’s a new year, and so I will be shrugging it off and moving on! I even have a plan to keep me honest in 2018.

I chose a few reading challenges to keep me on track. I decided I would do 10 books in each of these challenges: Beat the Backlist, The Unread Bookshelf, and The Creativity Challenge. I also am working through the Modern Mrs. Darcy challenge, which gives 12 categories to choose books from. That will leave me with enough room to read any other books I come across as the year goes.

I am also doing something this year, that I don’t normally do, which is to decide an a TBR list for the month. In February my list is:

One Crazy Summer  by Rita Williams-Garcia
Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
Jam on the Vine by LaShonda Barnett, and
Eccentric Glamour by Simon Doonan

If you’re a book lover, come over and join us in the Sister Reads Book Club. Our next  book is One Crazy Summer  and the meeting will be held on February 25th. It’s a super quick read, so you have more than enough time!

Do you set a reading goal for the year and take part in challenges, or do you just wing it?
