Reflecting and Resetting
It's June 3rd, and my desk calendar is still showing April. The month of May went by in a blur of holidays, weekend trips, way too much rain and 10 or so days of illness. It's time for me to sit quietly for a bit, and reflect and reset my plans for the year. How did we get to June so fast?
I'm looking at my lists from January, and trying to assess how the new things I tried have been working so far. In a moment of clarity I realised that my "rebranding" efforts in 2013 didn't ring true for me. It seems that I am constantly changing out the visual representation of what I am, and what I do. The very graphic logo and three word catch line I came up with a few months ago, seem so pedestrian now, and most importantly so not me.
I was trying to fit myself into a niche, but really Callaloo Soup feels best being what it has always been: a little bit of everything. I refuse to be crammed into a pigeonhole dammit! I am interested in too many things for that.
The butterfly image however is staying, but in a more Callaloo Soup way: bright and vibrant, not just a shadow of a butterfly. As I was working on designs for the new look, I saw in my files that I also did a redesign in June last year. It seems to be a trend. It seems like June is the month when I realise with a shock that the year is almost half over and so I need to reflect and reassess. I am guessing that because I am a visual person, that comes out in design side of things too.
Here's to the way forward with blooms, butterflies and sunshine!
